OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Women's Golf ran away with the team title at the Big O Classic, hosted by the Mavericks and Creighton, Tuesday as Omaha finished with a 15-over team score of 879 to win the 54-hole event by 41 strokes. Idaho State finished second.
Senior
Katie Ruge (Omaha, Neb.) played spectacularly with rounds of 68, 77 and 68 to take home the individual medalist honors at 3-under-par. She was closely followed by teammate senior
Emily Karmazin's (Omaha, Neb.) 4-over scores of 76, 71 and 73. Junior
Sarah Lasso (Columbus, Neb.) rounded-out Omaha's top five finishers in T4 with rounds of 73, 75 and 77 to finish with a 9-over 225.
The Mavericks' final event of the fall semester was played at Oak Hills Country Club with rain dampening Tuesday's final round.
Omaha has now won four team titles, including back-to-back Big O Classics, since head coach
Victoria Grasso's tenure began last fall.
All nine Mavericks participated in the event with senior
Macarena Garcia (Salamanca, Spain) recording Omaha's lone eagle of the event on the on the par-5 No. 1 in Monday's first-round.
Of note from Ruge's final round scorecard, the senior birdied all but three holes on the first nine to to finish a 5-under 31 heading out to begin the final round, which began from split tees due to weather.

Omaha Women's Golf resumes its 2025-26 season on Monday, Feb. 16 in the Rivertowne Intercollegiate hosted by Charleston Southern.
