OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks continue to build on their historic start as they blanked Portland State 1-0 tonight to remain undefeated through six matches this season. The team has now posted four shutouts and has not allowed a goal since August 22.
Omaha improves to 4-0-2 on the year, while the Vikings will continue looking for their first win as they are now 0-4-0.
Tonight was also a significant one for sophomore Jasmyn Brown, who's father Nick, a member of the United States Army currently stationed in South Korea, got to see her play college soccer for the first time ever after making surprise visit to Omaha.
How it Happened
- Both teams combined for only five shots in the first half, with Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen making the only save through the first 45 on a diving stop in the 39th minute.
- It only took six minutes for the Mavericks to break the stalemate in the second half as a couple quick passes from Emilie Erland and Grace Ostergaard set up Marissa Gohr to curve one into the top right corner of the goal to make it 1-0.
- After some more shutdown defense from the Mavericks, Reedtz had a busy final seven minutes, making another four saves including three between 85:47 and 88:10.
