Volleyball Returns to Action in MH Hospitality Omaha Challenge

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha volleyball (0-3, 0-0 Summit League) returns to action Thursday evening, Sept. 5, in the first of two matches as part of the MH Hospitality Omaha Challenge. The Mavericks first welcome Drake (0-3, 0-0 MVC) on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. CT and end the weekend on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. CT against SEC foe Oklahoma. The Bulldogs and Sooners will face-off in a neutral site matchup on Friday, Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. CT.

Matches this weekend involving Omaha will air on the Summit League Network powered by Midco Sports. The neutral site contest between Drake and Oklahoma will stream free of charge on OMavs.com.

McKenna Ruch led all Mavericks in the kills column through the first three contests of the season with 37. The graduate student also posted 10.0 total blocks in 13 sets played.

Erica Fava tallied 55 digs and Ivy Leuck was responsible for 70 assists. Julia Owens led all Omaha players with eight aces.

Against the Bulldogs, Omaha has emerged victorious in each of the last two meetings, a series that has not been played since 2021. The Mavericks are 0-1 all-time against Oklahoma with the lone meeting coming on Sept. 19, 2013 in the Nike Invitational.

After wrapping up the weekend of home non-conference action, the Mavericks hit the road for the first time in the 2024 regular season with a trip to California for three matches in the Golden State, beginning with a bout on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 9 p.m. CT at Long Beach State.
