OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha volleyball (0-5, 0-0 Summit League) opens a three match California road stretch at Long Beach State (2-2), Sept. 11 at 9 p.m. CT. They then travel up Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu for matches in the Pepperdine Asics Classic, Friday Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. CT versus UC Santa Barbara (2-4) and Saturday Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. CT against (RV) the Wave.
The Mavericks are playing on the road for the first time this season. Their next six matches lead to the start of Summit League play are away from Baxter Arena.
Matches against Long Beach State and Pepperdine will be broadcast on ESPN+.
On the season, the Mavericks are led on the attack by graduate student
McKenna Ruch (53 kills), and junior
Kali Jurgensmeier (46). Sophomore
Ivy Leuck (98) and freshman
Julia Owens (85) lead in assists.
In Omaha's most recent match at home against Oklahoma they welcomed
Shayla McCormick back from injury and the two-time All Summit League performer led the Mavericks with 10 kills as she closes in on becoming the 22nd member of the 1,000 kills club, currently sitting at 949 career kills. Owens tallied 16 assists and five digs in the setback while sophomore Leuck recorded 17 assists and two aces.
Omaha has faced Long Beach State once at Bacter Arena, Sept. 7, 2023, and fell 3-0. The Mavericks will play UC Santa Barbara and Pepperdine for the first time.
