OMAHA, Neb. - After getting rained out on Thursday, the Mavericks returned home for the first time in two weeks and promptly shutout Drake 2-0 today. This is the third time in five matches this year Omaha has not allowed a goal.
Omaha remains undefeated at 3-0-2, while the Bulldogs are still looking for their first win as they drop to 0-4-2.
How it Happened
- Omaha wasted no time getting started as Marissa Gohr took a pass from Alyssa Kellar and sent it just above the outstretched arms of Drake's keeper in the second minute of the match to make it 1-0.
- 30 minutes later, Grace Crockett took a corner and through traffic managed to find Cece Behrens in front of the net where she knocked in the header for her first goal of the season to grow the lead to two.
- The Mavericks defense took care of the rest as they limited the Bulldogs to just nine shots, including just four in the second half. In the 83rd minute, Drake got its best scoring opportunity of the night as Eve Blakey fired one to the side of the goal, only for Maja Baun to preserve the shutout with an incredible diving play.
