ST. GEORGE, Utah. - The Mavericks defense had another strong showing today as they allowed just two shots on goal all night in a 0-0 tie at Utah Tech.
Omaha ends the second week of the season at 2-0-2, while the Trailblazers move to 1-0-2.
How it Happened
- Getting the start in goal today was Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen. After facing two shots on goal and saving both of them at 12:53 and 14:40 in the first half she did not get another save opportunity for the entire rest of the match as the Mavericks completely shutdown the Trailblazer offense.
- The Mavericks totaled just three shots in the first half with one being on goal courtesy of Reagan Bourgeois. In the second half, Omaha came out strong as Marissa Gohr had a pair of shots on goal within the first three minutes, followed by one from Regan Zimmers in the 53rd minute. However, Utah Tech goalkeeper Brianna Frey stopped all three shots
- Both teams remained solid on defense for the remainder of the match, allowing just five combined shots over the final 37 minutes.
Inside the Box
- Once again leading the way on defense for Omaha was Zimmers who not only played every minute of today's match but of every match so far this season. Grace Ostergaard also played the full 90 minutes tonight, while Grace Crockett and Meg Nemnich logging 83 and 87 minutes, respectively.
- Reedtz now has five saves on the season with just one goal allowed back on opening day.
- Gohr led all players across both teams with five shots and two shots on goal.
