OMAHA, Neb. - After
signing four freshman back on Signing Day in November, the Omaha Volleyball team has added a fifth rookie to the 2024 team after signing Julia Owens.
"I chose Omaha because the players and coaches were so welcoming, and I knew it would be a place where I would improve as a volleyball player and a person."
Coming to us from Tempe, Arizona, Julia is a 5'8'' setter and was a four-year letterwinner at Corona del Sol High School. She was named Second Team All-Region as a sophomore and guided her team to a semifinals appearance in the state championship. Then, in her junior and senior years, she took a big step forward and made First Team All-City, First Team All-Conference, and First Team All-Region both seasons. Julia also led her team to a 39-5 record and a 6A State Championship in her junior season.
In addition to high school volleyball, Julia was a member of the National Championship winning Aspire Volleyball Club.
"We were fortunate to find a player of Julia's caliber at this point in the recruiting process," remarked Head Coach
Matt Buttermore. "A great competitor fresh off a club national championship. We're excited to have her join our gym."
