The Omaha Mavericks fell to the South Dakota Coyotes 5-1 on Sunday after an early first-inning deficit. Despite the loss, the Mavericks took the series with their two wins yesterday.
The Mavericks are now 30-9 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

How It Happened
• In just the ninth game where an opponent has scored first, USD had a five-run frenzy in the bottom of the first, giving the Mavericks an early deficit.
• The Mavericks got their first run in the third on
Jaelle Johnson's Maggie O'Brien's walk with bases loaded.
• In the bottom of the sixth,
Maggie O'Brien started the double play with a throw to
Lynsey Tucker on second then got the out at first.

- The Mavericks threw four pitchers including
Tatum Montelongo (0.2 IP),
Kamryn Meyer (2.1 IP),
Sydney Nuismer (2.0 IP), and
Abby Flanagan (1.0 IP). Nuismer and Flanagan didn't allow a hit or run and Meyer threw two strikeouts.
