Omaha, Neb.- The Omaha Mavericks opened the Connie Claussen Classic with an 8-0 win in five innings against Valparaiso.
The Mavericks improve to a 15-7 overall record on the campaign.

How It Happened
• The Mavericks wasted no time getting the runs in.
Ava Rongisch singled to right field allowing
Lynsey Tucker to advance home from third in the bottom of the first.
• Rongisch's hit moved
Maggie O'Brien to third where she would make it home on a sacrifice fly to right field by
Emma Durr, making it 2-0 in the bottom of the first.
• In the bottom of the second,
Maggie O'Brien singled with a hit up the middle past the shortstop to score in both Tucker and
Olivia Aden, making it 4-0.
• Tucker hit a double between the gap of center and right field to send
Marra Cramer in for the fifth run.
• After her double, Tucker advanced to third on a wild pitch. O'Brien sent her home with a single to the gap in center field.

Sydney Ross scored a two-run home run to make it 8-0 in the bottom of the fourth.
• In the top of the fifth Valparaiso had a runner on third with one out. On their first attempt at a sacrifice bunt to send the runner home they were successful in scoring the run, but it was later called off because the batter was out of the box. Valpo attempted the same sacrifice bunt, but Aden tagged the runner out at home.

Abby Flanagan struck out the final batter with three straight strikeouts to end the game in five innings.
Game Notes
• Tucker and O'Brien had perfect at-bats, going 2-of-2 and 3-of-3 respectively.
• O'Brien had a team-high three RBIs and two stolen bases.
• Tucker scored a team-high three runs.

Alex Olson led the way with four putouts.

Sydney Nuismer pitched four innings where she threw two strikeouts and only allowed five hits and one walk. Nuismer picked up her sixth win and third shutout.
