No. 11 Mavericks Fall in Frozen Faceoff Title Game to No. 3 Denver

The No. 11 Omaha Mavericks turn their sights towards the NCAA Tournament after falling in tonight's NCHC Frozen Faceoff Championship 4-1, to No. 3 Denver.

Continuing his hot streak, Brock Bremer started the scoring tonight putting home a loose puck in the crease of a Kirby Proctor shot at 13:56 of the 1st period. The game opening goal was the fourth consecutive game Bremer lit the lamp. He becomes the 22nd player in program history to score a goal in four straight games.

Leading 1-0 after 20 minutes of hockey, DU scored 93 seconds into the second period to pull level with the Mavericks. At 4:54 of the period, McKade Webster scored his second goal of the night to give Denver a 2-1 lead.

Omaha had multiple opportunities to score in the middle 20, including hitting two pipes on the same shift. In total, the Mavericks nailed three posts in the contest.
DU scored their insurance goal on a delayed penalty with an extra attacker on the ice with 4:10 remaining in regulation.

Zach Urdahl, Griffin Ludtke and Simon Latkoczy were all named to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff All-Tournament Team. Urdahl scored the second ever hat trick in Frozen Faceoff history in last night's 6-3 semifinal win over UND and added another assist. Ludtke had a trio of helpers in semifinal triumph as well. Going 1-1, Latkoczy stopped a total 67 shots.

Knowing they are fully in the NCAA Tournament, Omaha will await their first round opponent which they will find out at tomorrow's selection which starts at 5:30 p.m.
