Commerce, TX- The Omaha Mavericks defeated Abilene Christian 7-6 on the final day of the Lion Invitational.
The Mavericks improve to a 10-6 overall record on the campaign.

How It Happened

Sydney Nuismer had a hot start striking out the second and third batter to end the top of the first.
- In the bottom of the first,
Maggie O'Brien stole home on a wild pitch to give Omaha their first run.

Emma Durr had a two-run double to center, scoring in
Ava Rongisch and
Sydney Thomason.
- The final run in the top of the first was scored by
Emma Durr who made it home after tagging up on
Sydney Ross's fly ball to center.
- ACU had a one-run home run in the fourth making it a three-run game.
- The Mavericks picked up two more runs in the fourth.
Olivia Aden flied out to center, scoring Ross. The sixth run came from a O'Brien's hit to second that allowed
Sammy Schmidt to advance home.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Schmidt hit a single to right field, running in Durr for the seventh run.
- ACU made a rally in the top of the seventh with three hits to right field and a two-run homer to center making it a one-run game. The Mavericks held them to just six after making a catch in center to finish the game.
Game Notes
- In the 4.1 innings pitched by Nuismer, she only allowed one run, six hits, and one walk. With 18 batters, she made four strikeouts.

Kamryn Meyer came in for the remaining 2.2 innings where she allowed five hits, and five runs, but made four strikeouts on 14 batters.
- Ross went 2-2 at-bat today, scoring one run and tallying one RBI. Ross also had a team of high-seven putouts.
- Durr scored a team-high two runs in two at-bats and notched two RBIs.
- Though leading in runs, Omaha trailed 11-6 in hits. In the seven innings, the Mavericks only had one error compared to ACU's two.

The Mavericks will resume their tournament action next weekend March 1-3 at the Arizona State Invitational. Omaha will match up with Arizona State, North Florida, James Madison, and UC San Diego.
