The No. 19 Omaha Mavericks blanked the No. 10 Colorado College Tigers 3-0 behind
Simon Latkoczy's 24 saves in tonight's series opener.
With 3:50 to play in the opening period,
Jack Randl buried a one-timer from the right-side circle for his team-leading 11th lamp lighter of the season. The game's opening goal was assisted by blueliner's
Nolan Krenzen and Jo Lemay.
After a scoreless 2nd period, Omaha would go on to find the back of the net two more times in the final 20 minutes of regulation.
A pretty passing play from
Tanner Ludtke and
Jack Randl was finished with authority by
Ty Mueller in the slot to extend Omaha's lead to 2-0. With 2:19 left in regulation, Maverick captain
Nolan Sullivan corralled a loose puck in the neutral zone, crossed into the attacking zone and put the game on ice with an empty net goal.
Omaha and CC will wrap up the series tomorrow night from Baxter Arena. Puck drop slated for 7:07 p.m.
