Tulsa, OK. – The Omaha Mavericks fell 87-78 to the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles on Thursday night during their final road game.
Omaha falls to a 6-21 overall on the season and is now 2-12 in conference play.
Leaders For Omaha
Deanay Watson scored her first double-double with the Mavericks off her 12 points and team-high 10 rebounds. Leading in points tonight was
Kennedi Grant with 13, who went 6-of-10 from the field.
Polina Nikulochkina and
Katie Keitges also hit double digits with 11 and 12 points respectively.
Leaders for Oral Roberts
Hannah Cooper led the Golden Eagles with 21 points, going 5-of-11 from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
Team Stats
Omaha outshot ORU 54.4% (31-of-57) to 48.3% (29-of-60) on the field, as well as 45% (9-of-20) to 38.5% (5-of-13) from the arc. ORU was boosted ahead though with their free throws as they outshot Omaha 77.4% (24-of-31) to 53.8% (7-of-13).
Inside the First Quarter
Grace Cave sunk a three at 7:32 marking the first basket for the Mavericks. Grant tied the game up at 9 at 4:10 with a jump shot from a turnover.
Aaliyah Stanley's driving layup with two seconds left in the first put Omaha up 17-13.
The Golden Eagles had a hot start going 6-0 before allowing Omaha a basket. After giving up the lead, they stayed close behind only getting down by four at the last second.
Inside the Second Quarter
Keitges opened the quarter with a three-pointer at 9:28 putting the Mavericks up by seven. Omaha maintained a steady lead getting ahead by eight after Grant's layup at 2:04.
Oral Roberts capitalized on the Maverick's four turnovers and slowly climbed their way back. A final three-point jump shot with six seconds left tied the game up at 35.
Inside the Third Quarter
The Mavericks opened the quarter with a five-point scoring streak, putting them up 40-35. Omaha maintained the lead for a majority of the quarter, only giving it up at 3:22. The Mavericks stayed close behind, ending the third down just 61-60.
The Golden Eagles bounced back from the five-point deficit to start the quarter and took the lead late in the third with a driving layup.
Inside the Fourth Quarter
Omaha after started to struggle in the fourth and slowly fell behind. The Mavericks ran into turnover trouble and foul trouble, being called for 10 and giving up 12 points from free throws. Watson hit her double-double on the final rebound of the game.
ORU held Omaha scoreless for almost four minutes in the final quarter getting their lead up to 11. The Golden Eagles were boosted to 26 points in the quarter from their 12 free throws.

The Mavericks will return home to Baxter to host the Kansas City Roos at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24.
