Mavericks Come Up Short on Final Day of Bear Down Tournament

Tucson, AZ- The Omaha Mavericks fell to both No. 15 Arkansas 5-2 and RV Arizona 8-0 during the final day of the tournament. 

The Mavericks now fall to a 6-5 overall record on the campaign.  

Game One: Omaha 2, No. 15 Arkansas 7
How It Happened

    - The Razorbacks took a 2-0 lead in the second with a two-run homer to right. 
    - In the third, Arkansas scored their final three runs off three hits to right field. 
    - In the top of the fifth, Olivia Aden made it to first after being hit by a pitch. During the next at bat Marra Cramer got walked on a 3-2 count. Both Aden and Cramer advanced to third and second respectively on a wild pitch of Lynsey Tucker's at bat. With a 3-2 count, Tucker placed a hit to the left-center wall between the two outfielders, scoring both Cramer and Aden to make it a 5-2 game. 
    - The bottom of the fifth and sixth were both quick defensive innings, only allowing three batters per inning. 

Game Notes
    - Sydney Nuismer and Tatum Montelongo each pitch three innings. Nuismer made one strikeout but took the loss though with five runs and seven hits. Montelongo only allowed three hits and made one strikeout with 11 at-bats. 
    - Tucker had three at-bats where she had Omaha's only hit and recorded two RBIs. 
    - Aden and Cramer each tallied a run.
    - Alex Olson had a team-high five put-outs and Emma Durr notched four. 
    

Game Two: Omaha 0, Arizona 8 (5 Inn.) 
How It Happened

    - Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after the runner advanced to third on a passed ball. The runner on third advanced home a popup to left field.
    - In the bottom of the second, Kamryn Meyer struck out the first batter on 3-2 count. The next batter was walked but Sydney Ross caught the runner trying to steal second. The final out was a grounder to second for a quick three-batter inning. 
    - The Wildcats scored another four runs in the bottom of the third with a single to right field and a run scored on a wild pitch. 
    - Arizona scored two runs in the fourth on two hits. 
    - The final run for Arizona was scored in the fifth with loaded bases and a single to right field to run rule the game.
    
Game Notes

    - Sydney Thomason and Rylan Ewoldt each record a double, accounting for Omaha's two hits.
    - Omaha played three pitchers against the Wildcats. Meyer pitched two innings, allowing one hit and run and making two strikeouts. 
    - Abby Flanagan and Anna Chapman each pitched one inning a piece. Flanagan allowed four hits and four runs. Chapman allowed five hits and three runs.   

Up Next
The Mavericks will take the road next weekend Feb. 23-25 for the Texas A&M Commerce Tournament. Omaha will face Tarleton State, Texas A&M Commerce and Abilene Christian.
