Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Omaha Mavericks men's tennis squad extended their winning streak to seven matches this afternoon after defeating Eastern Illinois 4-1.

Omaha opened the weekend with a clean sweep of Marquette, defeating the Golden Eagles 7-0.

In doubles, Ryoma Mishiro/Quintan Van Wijk and Ethan Gaubert/Mikel Garmendia got things started for the Mavericks to secure the first point of the afternoon. The pairings won 6-4 and 6-2, respectively.

In singles, Ryoma Mishiro, Quintan Van Wijk, Mikhail Korkunov, Mikel Garmendia and Christian Trevey all won in straight sets. Bryan Kuntz came from one set down to secure his eighth singles win of the campaign. Van Wijk and Kuntz extend their singles winning streak to seven matches with their wins.

Against EIU, the Mavericks once again jumped out to an early 1-0 lead taking the doubles point. Mishiro and Korkunov won the first doubles match 7-6. Aiding in securing the win, Gaubert and Garmendia won 6-4 while the third doubles match was won via walkover.

Mishiro, Korkunov and Gabe Whinston won in straight sets to get the Mavericks to the magic number four to accomplish a perfect 2-0 weekend.

"Overall it was  a good weekend for us. It always feels good getting wins on the road and extending our streak to seven feels even better," head coach Matt Barlow said. "We are back to work on Monday though, a good Creighton team is coming to Miracle and I know it'll be a battle like it always is."

Next Saturday the Mavericks will battle crosstown rival, Creighton at 7:00 p.m. from Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
