Mavericks Continue Win Streak With Victory Over Montana State

Feb 11, 2024

Box Score The Omaha Mavericks men's tennis team extended their winning streak to five games with their 4-3 victory over Montana State on Sunday afternoon. The win keeps the Mavericks perfect at home, improving to 5-0 at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.

Omaha jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after capturing the doubles point. The pairing of Mikhail Korkunov/Bryan Kuntz and Ethan Gaubert/Mikel Garmendia secured wins in their matches to give Omaha the opening point.

In singles, Bryan Kintz won his team-best seventh singles match in three sets to get the Mavericks another point. Ryoma Mishiro won No. 1 singles in straight sets for another Maverick point.

"We definitely had a bit of a dip in level and energy today, but found a way," said head coach Matt Barlow. "So happy and proud of Bryan Kuntz. He's been through so much this past year and no one deserves a moment like this more than him. There is no one that deserves to have a clinching moment like that more than him. So happy for him and these guys."

The 7-4 Mavericks will take the road to Marquette University on Friday, Feb. 16.
