CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Omaha softball team swept day two of the UNI Dome Tournament with a 4-1 win over Northern Illinois and a 6-2 victory over UNI.
Sydney Ross and
Sydney Thomason scored the Maverick's first home runs of the season. In the UNI game,
Kamryn Meyer had her 800th career strikeout.
The Mavericks now improve to a 4-0 record on the season.
Game One: Omaha 4, NIU 1
How It Happened
- Omaha had two quick defensive innings to start the game. The Huskies only got through three batters in the first and were only allowed one hit in the second. The runner on second tried to make it home but was tagged out at home.
- During her first at-bat, Ross was hit by a pitch for the automatic walk. Ross stole second during
Alex Olson's at-bat, who was then walked. On a wild pitch, Ross and Olson advanced to third and second respectively. On a passed ball, Ross scored the Maverick's first run of the day and Olson made it to third.

Olivia Aden singled a hit to left field that scored Olson in for Omaha's second run in the bottom of the second.
- In the bottom of the third,
Emma Durr and Ross were hit by back-to-back pitches.
- Olson singled a hit to shortstop which resulted in Durr's out at third but moved Ross to second.
- Another single to left field by Aden sent both Ross and Olson home to make it 4-0.
- The Huskies scored in the top of the fifth to make it 4-1.
Game Notes
- Ross and Olson each scored two runs and Aden notched three RBIs.

Sydney Nuismer won her second game of the season after pitching a complete game. Nuismer made four strikeouts and only allowed three hits.
Game Two: Omaha 6, UNI 2
How It Happened
- The Mavericks wasted no time getting the runs in. To open the game,
Lynsey Tucker and
Maggie O'Brien each grounded a single. Thomason was walked to load the bases with 0 outs. Ross grounded out to third but got Tucker home.
- During the next at-bat, Olson's hit to right field was caught out but O'Brien was able to tag up and score the second run.
- Omaha got the scoring going again in the top of the third. With Thomason on first and O'Brien on second, Ross hit a homer to left field putting the Mavericks up 5-0.

Kamryn Meyer polished off the bottom of the third with three straight strikeouts.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Panthers hit a homer to center to make it a 5-1 game.

Kamryn Meyer struck out the third batter, for her sixth K of the day and 800th career strikeout.
- UNI pinned on one more run in the bottom of the sixth with a hit out to right field.
- In the top of the seventh, Thomason hit a home run to left field making it 6-2.
Game Notes
- O'Brien and Thomason scored two runs each, while Tucker notched one.
- Ross tallied 4 RBIs and her first home run of the season.
- Omaha had eight hits and zero errors.
