CHICAGO - Omaha volleyball rallied to defeat Lindenwood in five sets (25-14, 19-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-13) Thursday in the first round of the 2024 Women's NIVC, hosted by DePaul. Omaha will face either DePaul or Toledo tomorrow, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. CT with the match airing live on YouTube.
Kali Jurgensmeier notched in 19 kills with five blocks, while recording one dig. Jurgensmeier fueled several Maverick runs to keep the Lions at bay in the middle sets.
Brynlee Arnold hit in double-figures with 12 kills and three digs, hitting at a .391 clip to lead Omaha (min. 10 attempts).
The Mavericks logged eight aces compared to 20 service errors, though Omaha was able to work out a jam multiple times, including late in the fifth set after a 4-0 run.
Sarah Galligan recorded a key ace for the Mavs in the fifth frame to keep the momentum on Omaha's side.
Lindenwood lead 2-1 after three sets played before Omaha dominated the fourth 25-20 and later edged out the victory in the deciding set.
