CARBONDALE, Ill. – Omaha Swim and Dive took second place in both the men's and women's pools at the A3 Invitational between Saturday and Sunday.
Through 42 events each, the men's team finished second out of six programs, putting up 745 points. As for the women, the Mavericks totaled 756.5 points in a field of seven teams.
Omaha set six school records during the invitational. Five were individual records, and one was the women's 400-yard relay, featuring senior
Payton Easley, sophomore
Leah Spencer, freshman
Kate Novinski and senior
Hailey Matthews, with a time of 3:23.29. The relay unit placed second in the event.
Matthews also set an individual record with a time of 54.80 in the 100-yard back event.
Junior
Stefan Varga set two individual records this weekend. On Friday, Varga clocked in at 47.96 in the 100 back event, placing second. Varga also set a new Omaha record in the 200-yard back event on Saturday with a time of 1:46.92.
Sophomore
Kyle Kulow set the first record of the weekend with a 4:31.27 time in the 500-yard freestyle event, in which he placed third.
Finally, Omaha native and senior
Thomas Lundin set a record for the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:49.40 on Saturday evening. Lundin placed second in the event.
The Mavericks are back in action when they travel to Brookings, S.D., to take on South Dakota State on Friday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m.
