Box Score 2 The Omaha Mavericks men's tennis squad went 1-1 on their Utah road trip this week after defeating Weber State today in a tight battle, 4-3.
"Overall it was a very positive trip for us. We fought really hard in adverse conditions at BYU and the score doesn't reflect how close the match was. Today we showed up a little sore and tired and came out with great win against a tough Weber State team," head coach Matt Barlow said. "Proud of the guys for keeping their focus and staying disciplined against Weber, I believe that's what helped us take that one."
Omaha started off with a victory in doubles to go up 1-0 on Weber State. The duos of
Mikhail Korkunov/
Bryan Kuntz and
Quintan Van Wijk/
Ryoma Mishiro each took care of business winning their matches 6-4. In singles, it came down to the final match to decide today's duel winner. Mikhail Korunov and Quintan van Wijk won their singles matches 6-3, 7-6(1) and 6-2,6-1 respectively to get the Mavericks to three points. They got their clinching point from
Bryan Kuntz who came from behind to win in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 6-2.
