The Omaha Mavericks drop tonight's series finale 3-1 to the No. 4 North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
North Dakota scored first tonight but not until the 6:46 mark of the 2nd period. North Dakota would hold that lead until 49 seconds into the 3rd period when
Tanner Ludtke buried the equalizer off a 2-on-1 rush with
Ty Mueller.
Jack Randl had the secondary helper.
UND answered less than three minutes later scoring the eventual game winning goal at 3:35 of the 3rd period. Omaha threw everything they had at the Fighting Hawks for the remainder of regulation but were unable to even the contest. North Dakota added an empty net goal with 25 seconds left in the game to seal the victory.
Omaha and North Dakota each only took one penalty this evening. Both teams held each other scoreless on their one attempt. On the dot, the Mavericks won the faceoff battle for the second night in a row, 26-25.
Nolan Sullivan and
Ty Mueller led the way each going 8/13 (61.5%).
Omaha makes a long-awaited return to Baxter Arena next weekend when they welcome the Denver Pioneers to town for a two-game series.
