The Omaha Mavericks cross country team has officially crossed the midway point in the 2023 season after wrapping up the Gans Creek Classic this morning in Columbia, Missouri.
Like last year, Omaha finished the meet 16

Kamryn Ensley paced all Mavericks this morning placing 17

"The team had a solid effort today. Temperatures rose quickly and that definitely effected performances throughout the field," Omaha head coach
Cliff Cisar said. "Kamryn had a great race; it was good to see her have some confidence and feel good for the first time in a while. She's had a long stretch of things going on, so today was a great day for her."
Following Ensley was
Lauren Metzger who placed 73
rd overall with a time of 22:40.4. Trailing her closely was graduate runner
Lior Kremer who ran a 22:57.7 which was good for 84
th overall. Registering a 6K PR was Freshman runner
Katelyn Johnston who came in 94
th running to a time of 23:07.9. Rounding out the Maverick top five was
Lily Jackson who notched a 23:38.8 final time.
"Lauren had an amazing showing today for us," Cisar said. "She really took a chance and when things got tough she was able to think unselfishly and work towards the collective goal as a team. To run a 6k PR today was incredible."
Up next for the Mavericks is the 2
nd annual Platte River Rumble at Mahoney State Park. The Mavericks placed 4
th last year at their home meet and will look to replicate that success again in two weeks.
