Mavericks Play to Draw with Bison in Fargo

Fargo, N.D.— The Mavericks picked up their fourth point of Summit League play in a 2-2 draw with the Bison of North Dakota State on Sunday, Sept. 24 in Fargo.

Omaha's record moves to 4-3-3 with the draw.

How it Happened

  • A Bison corner kick in the 5th minute gave NDSU the first two shots of the game, but none of them reached the Mavericks' keeper Emma Konsmo

  • Alyssa Kellar drew a foul just before the 19th minute, giving Omaha a free kick in the attacking end.

  • Grace Crockett took the free kick for the Mavericks, finding Marissa Gohr who put it in the back of the net for her second goal of the season. (1-0)

  • A foul on Sophia Green in the 21st minute gave NDSU a free kick and the Bison were able to tie the game at one with a goal from Watson. (1-1)

  • North Dakota State quickly took the lead in the 23rd minute with a goal from Kallio. (1-2)

  • After the two goals, Konsmo made two saves in the 29th and 32nd minutes to keep the deficit at one headed into the halftime break.

  • In the second half the intensity ramped up. The Bison were shown two yellow cards in the 48th minute that left Green slow to get up.

  • On the ensuing free kick, Regan Zimmers lofted the ball up from midfield. Cece Behrens received the pass, heading it to Green who found the back of the net for the eighth time this season to tie the game. (2-2)

  • Kellar, Green and Grace Ostergaard were shown yellow cards as the game got more physical. A total of five cards were shown between the two teams in the second half.

  • In the 85th minute, the whistle blew as Green was taken down in the box. The official signaled for a penalty kick, but after a conversation with the other referees, the call was changed. The Bison were awarded a free kick as the game would end in a 2-2 draw.
