Omaha Welcomes Oklahoma In Final Non-Conference Match

LEADING OFF 

The Mavericks are 2-3-2 after a 1-0 loss at Drake on Sunday, Sept. 10. Omaha returns home for the final non-conference match of the season against the Oklahoma Sooners. Kickoff from Caniglia Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17. 

QUICK KICKS 

  • The Mavericks dropped their third match of the season in Des Moines, Iowa at Drake on Sunday. Omaha is outscoring its opponents 11-8 through seven games this season. 

  • Sophia Green has scored five goals, the most among Summit League scorers this season. Green is tied for second in the league with 12 points on the year. 

  • Green has 19 goals and eight assists for 46 points in her career with the Mavericks. She is tied with Chelsi Rohloff who holds the Omaha Division I record for goals and points in a career with 19 goals and 46 points from 2013-15. 

  • Omaha is 2-2 in penalty shot attempts. Sophia Green took the pk's for Omaha and scored on both. 

  • Sophomore transfer Alyssa Kellar is tied for fourth in the Summit League with three assists through seven games this year. 

  • Goalkeeper Emma Konsmo ranks second in the Summit League with an average of .429 shutouts per game. The sophomore has three clean sheets over seven starts this season. 

  • Konsmo made a Summit League-high 11 saves in a 2-2 draw at Missouri earlier this season.  

  • Omaha was tabbed third in the Summit League Preseason Poll after finishing third in the regular season last year. 

  • Grace Ostergaard and Regan Zimmers were named Players to Watch by the Summit League. 

  • Head coach Tim Walters enters his seventh season at the helm. He has recorded 44 wins on the pitch, including three Summit League semifinal wins, one Summit League championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance. 

  • The goalkeeping duo of senior Mia Reedtz and sophomore Emma Konsmo combined for eight team-shutouts last season. Reedtz started 12 matches last season between the pipes with a save percentage of 72% and a goals-against average of 1.25. Konsmo started 10 matches in net with a save percentage of 76.5% and an average of 1.54 goals against. 

  • Five newcomers joined the Mavericks this season, including four freshmen and one redshirt-sophomore transfer. 

SCOUTING THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS 

The Sooners of Oklahoma come to Omaha after opening the Big 12 Conference season with a 2-2 draw against Kansas. After their first draw of the season, Oklahoma has a record of 4-3-1 through eight matches. The Sooners started the year with three-straight wins over Tulsa, Oral Roberts and Arkansas-Pine Bluff before losing three in a row to Samford, No. 24 Gonzaga and Montana. Oklahoma got back in the win column recently with a win over Murray State before their most recent match against Kansas. 

SOONERS TO WATCH 

• Emma Hawkins leads Oklahoma with eight goals and 18 points on the year. Hawkins has two hat tricks this season, and 48 goals in her career with the Sooners. 

• Alexis Washington leads Oklahoma with four assists on the year. Washington led the Sooners with nine assists last season. 

• Goalkeepers Sierra Giorgio and Olivia Ramey have shared starts for the Sooners. Giorgio leads the way with 15 saves over three starts and seven total games. Ramey has made 12 saves through five starts. Giorgio has a save percentage of .714 and Ramey is at an even .600.

This is the first meeting between Omaha and Oklahoma.
