Mavericks Blanked By Bulldogs In Des Moines

Des Moines, Iowa— The Mavericks played a tough 90 minutes, but were unable to recover from an early goal by the Bulldogs as Drake won the match 1-0. 

Omaha's record moves to 2-3-2 with the loss. 

How it Happened 

  • Sophia Green took the first shot on goal of the game in the 12th minute, but it was stopped by Drake's goalkeeper Addie Ford. 

  • Emma Konsmo stopped her first shot of the game in the 28th minute. She would make another save in the 41st minute. 

  • Drake's Emma Nagel was able to find the back of the net in the 38th minute to give the Bulldogs the lead headed into halftime. (0-1) 

  • Out of the break, Marissa Gohr fired a shot in the 52nd minute that rang off the crossbar and stayed out of the net. 

  • Omaha battled to get more opportunities, getting shots off in the 61st and 63rd minutes. 

  • Drake's bench was shown a yellow card in the 65th minute. The Bulldogs' Lily Overstreet was shown a yellow card in the 85th minute. 

  • Two minutes later, Grace Ostergaard was shown a yellow card. 

  • The Mavericks were able to get two more looks in the final minutes of the match. Alyssa Kellar had a great chance stopped by Ford in the 89th minute. Cece Behrens had a shot blocked in the 90th minute. 

Inside the Box 

  • Drake narrowly outshot Omaha 10-9. The Bulldogs led the Mavericks 4-2 in shots on goal.  

  • Behrens and Green led the team with three shots each. Green and Alyssa Kellar recorded a shot on goal each for Omaha. 

  • Emma Konsmo made three saves in the loss. 

  • Sophia Green's four game scoring streak ended with the shutout today. 

  • Grace Ostergaard was shown her first yellow card of the season. As a team, the Mavericks have been given five cautions this year.

  • The Mavericks return to Caniglia Field on Sunday, Sept. 17 for a match against Oklahoma. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Omaha.
