Green's Second PK Goal Of Season Lifts Mavericks To Victory

Omaha, Neb.-- It took until the 86th minute, but Sophia Green found the back of the net to break the tie and give Omaha the 1-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara at Caniglia Field on Thursday. 

Omaha's record moves to 2-1-2 with the win. 

How it Happened 

  • Emma Konsmo made her first stop of the game in the 7th minute. 

  • UCSB continued to get good looks at goal, but Konsmo came up with two-straight saves in the 22nd and 23rd minutes, keeping the game scoreless. 

  • Marissa Gohr got a good look at goal shortly after, but it was blocked by the Gaucho defense. 

  • Regan Zimmers had a great chance for a goal early in the second half, but it was stopped by UCSB's keeper Sabrina Hinz. 

  • Konsmo made two more saves in the 53rd and 59th minutes to keep the game 0-0. 

  • Konsmo would stop two more Gaucho shots in the 72nd and 75th minutes. Emma finished the game with seven saves in her third shutout of the season. 

  • A hand ball in UCSB's defensive box gave the Mavericks a penalty kick in the 86th minute. Sophia Green took her second pk of the season and snuck it inside the bottom left corner for her fourth goal of the year. 

Inside the Box 

  • The Gauchos led the game with 20 shots compared to the Mavericks' 6. 

  • UCSB led Omaha 7-2 in shots on goal. 

  • Green recorded her team-leading fourth goal of the season. She has now scored in three-straight matches, and netted pk goals in the last two. 

  • Green led Omaha with two shots. 

  • Konsmo made seven saves in her third shutout of the season. 

  • UCSB was called for six fouls compared to Omaha's five.
