Ensley and Kremer Named Summit League Preseason Athletes to Watch

Aug 29, 2023

With Omaha Mavericks just days away from their season debut, the Summit League announced its 2023 Cross Country Preseason Poll and Athletes to Watch list this morning. Sophomore Kamryn Ensley and Senior newcomer Lior Kremer were tabbed as Athletes to Watch while Omaha was picked to finish 6th in the league this season. The full preseason poll can be found below.

Ensley was the top Maverick placer in all meets last year, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Platte River Rumble, a fourth-place finish at the Summit League Championships which earned her the Newcomer of the Year award, and a 32nd place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, the highest finish from a Maverick Freshman in Division I history.

Senior Lior Kremer who is transferring in from SMU brings an incredible college resume to Omaha as she holds a 6k (XC) PR of 21:48.6 and is coming off one of her most successful track seasons ever as she had run PR's in both the 5,000m (17:20.49) and the 10,000m (36:18.37).

"I am very excited as we have a group that's going to really use this year as an opportunity to show what we are capable of. We have more depth than ever and it will show this Fall," Maverick head coach Cliff Cisar said. Omaha is set to kickoff their 2023 campaign this Friday when they head to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to race in the Augustana Twilight Meet.
