Omaha, Neb.-- Despite a 33rd minute goal from Sophia Green, the Mavericks were defeated 2-1 by the Wyoming Cowgirls at Caniglia Field on Sunday.
Omaha's record moves to 1-1-2 with the first loss of the season.
How it Happened

Emma Konsmo got on the stat sheet early with a save in the eighth minute. She watched two more shots sail passed her in the 13th and 14th minutes as the Cowgirls held possession early.

In the 17th minute, Marissa Gohr took the first shot-on-goal of the game for the Mavericks, but it was stopped by the Cowgirl keeper Haley Bartel.

Omaha and Wyoming continued to trade chances until Sophia Green was fouled inside the box in the 33rd minute, drawing a penalty kick.

Green took the pk for the Mavericks, tucking the ball perfectly into the bottom left corner for her team-leading third goal of the year. (1-0)

Alyssa Hansen had a good chance to extend the lead in the 36th minute, but Bartel was there with the save for the Cowgirls.

Midway through the second half, Wyoming was finally able to break through with a goal from Jamie Tatum. (1-1)

Five minutes later in the 76th minute, the Cowgirls struck again. Alyssa Glover rifled a shot into the upper left corner to give Wyoming the lead. (1-2)

Cece Behrens had the last chance for Omaha in the 79th minute, but Bartel was there with her third save of the game to seal the win for Wyoming.
