Mavericks Complete Exhibition vs. Tulsa

Aug 19, 2023

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - In its final tune-up before the start of the season, the Omaha volleyball team played a five-set exhibition vs. Tulsa on Saturday, losing 4-1 in the neutral-site match at Blue Valley North High School. No official stats were recorded for the exhibition.

This was the only exhibition of the year for the Mavericks as they now look to next week for the season opener vs. Texas A&M on Friday.

With 18 players on the roster this season, including nine newcomers, the Mavericks used Saturday's match to work through several different lineups and offensive systems to zero in on building a starting lineup for Friday's season opener. A deep and experienced Golden Hurricane lineup proved to be a sufficient opponent for a young Mavericks team to test itself against in preparation for a formidable non-conference slate.

"We saw great performances from several players," remarked Head Coach Matt Buttermore. "We're excited to get on the floor in Baxter Arena this weekend."
