Mavericks Capture Program's First Summit League Title to Advance to NCAA Tournament

For the first time in the Division I era, the 2023 Omaha Mavericks are Summit League Champions after defeating South Dakota State in the Summit League title game. With the postseason tournament victory, Omaha clinches their first DI NCAA Tournament berth in program history. The Mavericks will now wait until tonight to see who they draw the in next week's NCAA opening round.

How It Happened
  • The game winning run was scored in the bottom of the first inning yesterday before the rain delay postponement
  • The winning run was a bases load walk drawn by Emma Durr to bring home Lynsey Tucker
  • For the rest of the game, Senior ace Kamryn Meyer and Tori Kniesche would go on to trade strikeouts and outs
  • Meyer allowed just one hit all game while striking out 11 batters
  • With two runners on and one out in the top of the 7th inning, Meyer battened down the hatches and secured the final two outs of the game helping deliver Omaha's first Summit League title

  • Olivia Aden, Kamryn Meyer, Maggie O'Brien, Lynsey Tucker and Rachel Weber we're all named to the 2023 Summit League Softball All-Tournament Team
  • Kamryn Meyer garnered Championship MVP going 3-0 in the tournament allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out 24 hitters
  • This is the Mavericks first conference title since 2011 when they won the MIAA in Division II play
