Senior sprinter and hurdler
Vanessa Gunderson was tabbed as the Female Outdoor Track and Field Scholar of the Championships for the Summit League.
The Scholar of the Championship award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative undergraduate grade-point average participating at each of the Summit League's 19 championships. Each institution that is participating in a Summit League championship is eligible to submit one nominee for the Scholar of the Championship award.
Gunderson, a four-year member of the Omaha track & field and cross country teams boasts a 4.0 GPA as a neuroscience major. She has been a Summit League Honor Roll member every year since being a starter in 2019. On top of that, she has also made the Summit League Commissioners list of Excellence every single season she has been at Omaha.
Gunderson will be Omaha's only competitor in the 400 meter hurdles this weekend at the Summit League Championships. Her season best time of 1:04.91 came at the Kip Janvrin Open.
