OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks made it two in a row against Lindenwood on Saturday as
Mike Boeve hit his second walk off of the year to win it 4-3.
Omaha is now at 14-17 this season after handing Lindenwood its 30th loss of the year (9-30).
Innings 1-5
The Mavericks were unable to get much going on offense through the first half of the game. Their only two hits during the first five innings both came in the second, with
Cam Frederick ripping his fifth double of the year and
Eddie Satisky singling him over to third, only for a groundout to end any potential for a rally.
On the mound, a long, 27-pitch first inning ultimately limited
Harrison Kreiling to just four innings pitched. That said, he did manage to hold the Lions to a single unearned run while striking out five.
Innings 6-9
After Lindenwood picked up another run in the fifth, the Mavericks finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth as
Devin Hurdle ripped a two-out RBI single up the middle and advanced to second on an error by the center fielder. Frederick then hit one right at the shortstop who air mailed it wide of the first baseman, allowing Hurdle to score from second and tie up the game.
The next inning, a sac fly from
Haiden Hunt gave Omaha its first lead of the day. This would be short lived, though, as the Lions tied it up the very next inning on a sac fly of their own following the second Maverick error of the day.
On to the top of the ninth,
Wyatt Sellers worked around another error, along with a wild pitch and a passed ball, to hold the Lions scoreless thanks to a pair of swinging strikeouts. In the bottom of the inning, the Mavericks immediately loaded the bases as
Zach Lechnir and Hunt were both hit by pitches and
Matt Goetzmann got his first hit of the day to set up a sac fly from Boeve to complete the walk off.
Inside the Box Score
Neither of Boeve's walk offs this year have come on hits, as his first was a bases loaded walk vs. Northern Colorado.
Sellers picked up his third win of the season to now lead all Mavericks relievers.
Goetzmann continues to produce since being moved to the leadoff spot, getting on base three times today and extending his hitting streak to eight games.
Up Next
The Mavericks will go for the sweep in tomorrow's series finale, with first pitch set for 1 p.m. and
Charlie Bell set to start.
