Mavericks Rally Late, Fall in Extra Innings to North Dakota

The Omaha Mavericks Softball team fell in extra innings 4-2 today to the North Dakota Fighting Hawks. The Mavericks won the series by taking two out three games from UND this weekend.

How It Happened
  • North Dakota jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 3rd inning
  • UND's 3rd inning runs came off a sac fly to right field and a throwing error to home plate
  • Ava Rongisch answered back in the bottom of the 3rd with a sac fly to center field scoring Maggie O'Brien
  • Down to their final two outs, Rongisch doubled to left center scoring Sydney Ross to tie the game at 2-2
  • In the top of the 9th, North Dakota hit a 2-run homerun and the Mavericks were unable to answer in the bottom of the inning
GAME NOTES
  • Kamryn Meyer pitched all nine innings for the Mavericks today
  • Meyer struck out 14 batters in the contest. That is her third highest strikeout mark of the season
  • Marra Cramer had a season best 3-hit game this afternoon. She went 3-for-5 on the day
