Omaha, Neb.-- The Omaha men's golf team completed the Stampede at the Creek on Tuesday, Apr. 11 with redshirt senior Connor Wilson earning the individual medal.
Wilson recorded a three-round score of 208 (-8), matching the eighth-best 54-hole total in program history en route to the first individual medal of his Maverick career. It is the first tournament championship by any Maverick since Feb. 25, 2020, when Witchayapat 'Tiger' Sinsrang took first place at the Joust at Goose Creek. Wilson also became the first Maverick to win an event Omaha has played host to. Connor sank a tournament-high 16 birdies, including nine in the second round alone. His round two total of 64 (-8) stands as the best single-round score in Maverick history.
The Mavericks divided into an "A" and "B" lineup to allow all 13 players to golf in the home invitational. The "A" team finished in third place with a three-round total of 868. They fall two strokes behind Northern Iowa, which takes second place with 866. St. Thomas won the event with a 54-hole score of 865.
Kurtis Rodriguez, Carter Doose, and Mathew Halvorson finished in the top-20. Rodriguez totaled 221 throughout the event, earning a share of 15th place on the leaderboard. Doose recorded three rounds of 74 (+2) and takes 17th place with a three-round total of 222. Halvorson finished a stroke behind Doose, in 20th place with a two-day score of 223.
Nolan Johnson shares 23rd place after a 54-hole score of 224, and Josh Peters takes 34th with a total of 228 over two days. Peters recorded an even score of 72 in the second round.
The "B" team took sixth place with a total score of 898. Noah Hartman and Jack Tickle led the way with matching scores of 224 over three rounds. Hartman recorded a low round of 72, and Tickle scored 71 (-1) in the opening round. The two finished in a tie for 23rd place overall.
Tyler Eedy scored 76 (+4) in all three rounds and ended with a total score of 228. Eedy finished in 34th place on the leaderboard. Phoomintr Kaewvichien earned 38th place, finishing a stroke behind Eedy with a 54-hole total of 229. Preston Cedergren finished with a score of 244. Cedergren scored 71 (-1) in the second round. Josh Bartels was a stroke behind Cedergren with a two-day total of 245.
The Mavericks remain in Nebraska for the final scheduled event of the season, the Summit League Championship. The conference tournament is scheduled for Sunday-Tuesday, Apr. 30-May 2 at Wilderness Ridge golf course in Lincoln.
