The No. 14 Omaha Mavericks erased a pair of 3
rd period deficits to force overtime against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks. North Dakota scored 66 seconds into the overtime period to defeat Omaha, 5-4.
With 10:32 remaining in regulation, Senior captain
Nolan Sullivan began the comeback for the Mavericks when he tipped a shot from the point out front. Sullivan's sixth goal of the season was assisted by freshmen
Jacob Slipec and Jo Lemay. With 3:55 remaining in regulation,
Jake Pivonka netted his tenth goal of the season to draw even with UND at 3-3.
Matt Miller and
Victor Mancini were credited with the helpers.
UND didn't go away as they regained the lead 52 seconds later. Omaha wouldn't go away lightly either. With 32 tics left in the 3
rd period,
Matt Miller buried a rebound to tie the game up at 4-4 and help force overtime.
Jack Randl and
Tyler Weiss registered the assists. Weiss opened the scoring for the Mavericks tonight when he put home a rebound at 5:08 of the first period.
Cameron Berg and
Jimmy Glynn both found the scoresheet with the assists.
Miller and Weiss each had multi-point nights for the Mavericks. It's the sixth multi-point game for both forwards this season.
The Mavericks and Fighting Hawks will conclude the regular season tomorrow night with a 6:07 p.m. puck drop.
