OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha's four-game winning streak came to an end on Friday as they began conference play with a 10-2 loss to North Dakota State.
The Mavericks (6-9, 0-1) lose their first game since March 3 at BYU, while the Bison (4-17) pick up their third win in the month of March.
Innings 1-3
Mike Boeve made his triumphant return to the lineup today after missing the last two games with a minor injury. In his first at bat, Boeve singled home
Drew Lechnir on a bloop hit to left to make it 1-0 Omaha in the first.
The Bison responded the next inning, however, plating three runs off
Caleb Riedel, who was making his first appearance in two weeks.
Innings 4-6
Both starters were lights out in the middle innings, with Riedel striking out two more batters, including the 100th of his career in the fourth.
Alex Potter then came in to relieve Riedel in the sixth and stranded a pair of runners with the help of a double play turned by
Devin Hurdle and
Eddie Satisky.
Innings 7-9
Potter came back out for the seventh and tossed a 1-2-3 inning. The Bison, though, took advantage of a couple Mavericks defensive miscues in the eighth and scored six more runs to blow the game open as they went on to take the first game of the series.
