SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Mavericks wrapped up their regular season action at the Coyote Invite this weekend. The women and men combined for over 65 top-10 finishes over the two day event.
The Maverick women saw four first place finishes over the weekend, while the men claimed three.
"I was really happy to see some fast swims at our last meet before conference," said head coach
Jessica Hessel. "We are at the end of some really intense training, and we're still able to push through the fatigue and show up strong. I'm excited to see this team suit up in a few weeks and show off all their hard work this season."
A team of
Grant Schaeffer,
Owen Hoak,
Logan Kempf and
Grant Waszak claimed the first top-bill with a time of 1:23.18 in the 200-free relay.
Carina Monroe the grabbed the 500-free title with a time of 5:11.85.
The Maverick women earned first in the 400-medley relay. Liv Theil,
Jillian Altmaier,
Sadie Khalil, and
Halle Kuck swam a time of 3:36. 16 for the prize.
Hailey Matthews the grabbed another individual top-placement for Omaha. She swam a time of 4:25.87 in the 400-IM.
The Maverick men got their first individual first-place finish by
Amir Haviv in the 100-breast. He led the group with a time of 55.81.
Hoak would get one more top-placement for the Omaha men with a time of 46.63 in the 100-free, while a team of
Morgan Baker,
Olivia Dendinger, Hagemann, and Matthews earned first in the 400-free. They swam a time of 3:32.78.
Between the men and women, Omaha had seven second-place finishes, and seven more third-place times over the weekend.
Omaha returns to action in a few weeks at the Summit League Championships. They'll head to Minneapolis from Feb. 22-25.
