Corpus Christi, Texas—The Omaha women's golf team earns ninth place at the Islander Classic after the final round on Tuesday.
The Mavericks posted a team score of 328 in the third round for a 54-hole total of 968. Omaha falls five strokes behind Drake, who takes eighth place with a total score of 963. Houston Christian won the event, posting a three-round score of 921.
Nicole Hansen and Mika Miyata earned top-20 finishes for the Mavericks. Hansen used a 79 (+7) in the third round to take a share of 13th place with a three-round total of 237. Miyata was one stroke behind Hansen, finishing with a total score of 238 and a share of 17th place.
Sydney Taake scored 249 over 54 holes, taking 51st place. Freshmen Emily Karmazin and Macarena Garcia tied for 56th and 61st, respectively. Karmazin totaled 252, while Garcia recorded 256 over three rounds.
The Mavericks return to Texas for the UTRGV Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 6-7 in McAllen, Texas.
