Omaha Closes Weekend with Win vs. Loyola Chicago

AUSTIN, Texas - Omaha softball closed the weekend with a 4-1 win over Loyola Chicago. Seven players recorded hits for the team's seventh win this season.

Omaha improves to 7-3 overall.

How It Happened
  • Omaha got the action started in the bottom of the first inning. Maggie O'Brien tallied the first hit with a double to right field, and Rachel Weber and Sydney Ross joined her on base following a pair of walks. Ava Rongisch then doubled to right center to plate all three base runners for a 3-0 lead.
  • The Mavericks went up 4-0 in the fourth. Emma Durr led off with an outfield single and scored on the next at-bat. Maddox Thomas doubled to right center to bring her home.
  • Loyola avoided the shutout in the sixth inning. Wallace doubled to get on base and advanced to third on a sac bunt. The Ramblers used a sac fly from Barnett to score Wallace for their lone run of the game. Omaha went on to win, 4-1.

  • Rongisch finished with a career-high three RBI.
