Mavericks Draw with Tigers in Series Finale

Omaha, Neb.-- The No. 16 Omaha Mavericks skated to a draw with the Colorado College Tigers in the series finale on Saturday night.

The Mavericks outshot the Tigers 42-33 through three periods and a five-minute overtime frame. Simon Latkoczy made 31 saves in the draw, including ten each in the second and third periods.

Ty Mueller got the Mavericks' scoring started for the second-straight game. At 4:54 of period two, Mueller jumped on a loose puck in the slot to net his 12th of the season. Jack Randl and Nolan Krenzen picked up the assists. Colorado College would tie it up at 13:20 of the second.

Three minutes later and on the power play, the Mavericks would break the deadlock. At 16:25 of the second period, Jack Randl deflected a Tyler Weiss point-shot past Mbereko for his team-leading 16th goal of the year. Cameron Berg earned the secondary assist.

With :16 seconds left in the third and an extra attacker, the Tigers found the equalizer to send the game to overtime.

The Mavericks responded by killing the remaining 1:44 of a 4-on-3 penalty in OT on their way to the draw. Simon Latkoczy stopped all four shots he faced in the extra five minutes.

Omaha will head to Oxford, Ohio next week for a two-game set with the Miami RedHawks. The Mavericks bested the RedHawks by scores of 4-1, and 2-0 at Baxter Arena earlier this year. Puck drop for Friday night's game is scheduled for 6:05 P.M. CST, and Saturday's game is scheduled for 4:05 PM.
