Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mavericks Defeat Bellevue in Front of Record Crowd

OMAHA, Neb. - In the most attended Omaha Men's Basketball game in history with 5094 in attendance, the Mavericks wrapped up their three-game homestand and the month of November with a 78-59 win over Bellevue to remain undefeated at home.

Omaha is back over .500 at 5-4, including a perfect 4-0 at Baxter Arena, while the Bruins remain at 2-8 as today's game was an exhibition for them.

Leaders for Omaha
Marquel Sutton had his best game of the season after shooting 7-for-9 along with 7-of-12 from the stripe to finish with 22 points. He also pulled down the most rebounds of any Maverick this year with 13 boards, giving him both his first 20-point game and first double-double of the season.

Frankie Fidler also scored double digits with 12 points, including eight free throws, while Marcel Bryant had his second-consecutive double-digit scoring game with 10 today. Tony Osburn led the team again on three-pointers, going 3-for-5. Grant Stubblefield was once again Omaha's leader in assists with a season-high five.

Leaders for Bellevue
Nigel Wilson was Bellevue's lone double-digit scorer with 12 points, shooting 4-for-10. Jaden Phillips was right behind him with eight points, as well as a team-leading seven rebounds.

Team Stats
Omaha outshot Bellevue across the board, besting them in FG% (49% vs. 38.2%), 3-PT FG% (37.5% vs. 32.3%), and FT% (72.7% vs. 70.0%). The Mavericks also held the advantage in points in the paint (30 to 18) and points off turnovers (20 to 14).

Inside the First Half
The Bruins actually managed to keep things relatively close in the first half. Through the first 10 minutes the Mavericks led by just four at 19-15, with Sutton making three buckets to account for six of those points, and Jaeden Marshall making five straight free throws after getting fouled twice in two seconds at 12:42.

Osburn opened the final 10 minutes of the half with his first three at 9:29, only for the Bruins to pull within one point of Omaha after a three from Wilson two minutes later. Bellevue briefly held a 27-26 lead with just under three minutes remaining, but Sutton and Marshall regrew the lead to 33-27 to end the half after scoring seven unanswered.

Inside the Second Half
Omaha was much more aggressive in the second half, outscoring Bellevue 45-32. Nine points in a row from 19:11-17:41 gave the Mavericks their largest lead yet at 42-30. Though the Bruins bounced back to keep it from being a runaway, a combined 10 points from Sutton and Bryant over the next five minutes still kept it a nine-point game.

Ja'Sean Glover and Fidler got the lead back to double digits as Glover nailed a jumper in the paint at 8:36 and made another layup 30 seconds later off the steal from Fidler. Six points in a row from Fidler got it to 63-47 with 6:06 left, before Bryant made it a 20-point game with a dunk and a jumper to put things away for good.

Game Notes
- Sutton is the second Maverick to record a double-double this year after previously falling a rebound short vs. MACU last week.
- With nine points today, Osburn ends his impressive week with 41 points and 12 three-pointers.
- Prior to this week, Bryant had 26 points through the first seven games. He has nearly doubled his points total with 21 in this week alone.
