Evanston, Ill. - The Omaha Mavericks drop their to Big 10 opponent Northwester in 87-69 contest.
Leaders For Omaha
In tonight's game 10 different Mavericks scored, led by
Katie Keitges with 18 points. Keitges collected six field goals (6-of-11), all six being three-pointers.
Kennedi Grant paced the team with six assists.
Cora Olsen went 5-for-5 on the free throw line and
Deanay Watson tallied three steals.
Leaders for Northwestern
Melannie Daley paced the Wildcats with 21 points, off 10 field goals, leading the team with a margin of six points. Paige Mott totaled 13 rebounds, and Caroline led with 12 assists. Mercy Ademusayo made two of the five blocks on the game.

Omaha shot 34.9% (22-of-63) to Northwestern's 53% (35-66). The Mavericks trailed 34.6% (9-of-26) during three-pointers, compared to their 42.1% (8-of-19). Omaha had the closest margin to Northwestern's free-throw percent (80.0%, 16-of-20 vs. 81.8%, 9-of-11).
Inside the First Quarter
The Mavericks had a tough start to the game, going 0-17 in the first 5 minutes of the game. It wasn't until
Lucy Ghaifan drew a shooting foul, making one to get the Mavericks on the board. The first field goal was made by Keitges with a bucket behind the arc at 4:52. The other four points game from free-throws by Watson and a two-point jumper by
Grace Cave.
For Northwestern, they got off to a hot start, setting the tone early. Hailey Weaver put up seven points from three-field goals. Two blocks were made by Weaver and Caileigh Walsh.
Inside the Second Quarter
Grant got it going in the second with a second chance layup closing the game to 17 at 8:21. At 8:05, Watson made a steal resulting in a three-point jumper by Allison Stephens, assisted by Grant. Cave at 4:43, made a defensive rebound sending it up to
Cora Olsen for a fast break driving layup, assisted by Cave. Seven of the 16 points in the second came from the free-throw line.
Northwestern got the first bucket of the quarter at 9:26. They totaled 22 points in the second, led by Walsh's five. Northwestern went a perfect 2-for-2 on the free-throws and collected one steal.
Inside the Third Quarter
Omaha made the first basket coming out of the half, after Keitges sunk one from the three, assisted by Grant. The Mavericks had two back-to-back buckets after a turnover on a bad pass at 7:50. Olsen made an and-one from a foul coming off her floating jump shot. The quarter was closed out by a basket from Watson assisted by Keitges with five seconds left.
Another 22 points were scored from Northwestern in the third, led by Daley's six points. They once again went 2-for-2 on the free-throw line and tallied two steals. Omaha outplayed them by two points in the quarter.
Inside the Fourth Quarter
In the fourth, Omaha put up 21 points from seven field goals. They went 4-of-9 on behind the arc. Keitges paced with nine points and one steal. Watson put back two of her three field goals, tallied one assist and one steal. The Mavericks picked up 12 rebound compared to their seven. They outworked Northwestern by two points for another 10 minutes.
The Wildcats claimed 19 additional points from six field goals. Hailey Weaver owned eight of those points, and added a steal to the play. They went a perfect 4-for-4 on the free throws.
