Mavericks Host NDSU on Saturday

OMAHA, Neb. - After playing three matches in five days last week (going 2-1), the first-place Mavericks (10-11, 9-2) play their penultimate home match of the season in their only match of the week vs. North Dakota State.

Quick Hits
  • Three Mavericks enter the week atop the Summit League leaderboards for conference only stats. The first is Shayla McCormick who leads the league in points at 166.5. She is also second in kills at 147, eighth in digs with 129, and 10th in hitting percentage at .272. McCormick is also riding a four-match streak with a double-double and seven-match streak with at least 10 kills.
  • Meanwhile, Erica Fava currently leads the conference in service aces with 23, and is fifth in digs at 144. She currently has three consecutive matches with at least three service aces and 10 digs.
  • Newcomer Emily Huss is the final Maverick who leads the league in a stat as her 1.36 blocks per set are 0.13 high than the next closest player. She is also eighth in total blocks at 34.
  • McKenna Ruch can also be found in the top 10 in multiple categories, including hitting percentage (.298), blocks (42), kills (119), and points (148.5). In addition to this, she is right on the precipice of reaching 300 career blocks as she comes into Saturday with 299.
  • Rachel Fairbanks is featured in the top 10 as well, with her 14 aces and 146 digs both making the cut. Last week, she recorded 47 digs to top 200 digs in a single season for the first time in her career. Likewise, she set a new career single-season high with 143 kills after racking up 39.  
  • Amanda Hardt continues to stake her claim as one of the front runners for Summit League Freshman of the Year as she added 39 more kills last week to bring a team-high 215 into Saturday. The rookie is also fifth in conference kills at 134 and is tied for fifth in points at 148.5.
  • The last Maverick to rank in the top 10 in a stat is Ivy Leuck, whose 250 assists in conference play place her in fifth overall. Overall, the freshman has 370 assists on the season and may top 400 this weekend.

Scouting North Dakota State
After sweeping Kansas City on Thursday, the Bison remain in fifth in the conference at 7-4 in league play.

Bison To Watch
Senior outside hitter Ali Hinze continues to lead the Bison on offense with 290 kills and 23 service aces. She also has a team-high 267 digs. Against Omaha this year, she led NDSU with 15 kills, 15 digs, and three aces.

Freshman middle blocker Arianna Blohm paces the team in blocks with 75 total, including 12 block solos. She blocked four shots against the Mavericks last time out and also recorded 10 kills and a .625 hitting percentage.

Senior setter Kelley Johnson currently leads the league in assists per set at 10.59, along with the second most total assists at 868. She picked up 48 assists vs. Omaha back in September.

After winning their first meeting this season, the Mavericks moved to 52-44 all-time vs. NDSU.
