Mavericks Play to 0-0 Draw with Pioneers

Omaha, Neb.— The Mavericks and Pioneers of Denver played to a 0-0 draw at Caniglia Field on Sunday, Oct. 1. 

Omaha's record moves to 4-4-4 with the tie and 1-1-2 in conference play. 

How it Happened 

  • Mia Reedtz started in net for the first time this season, getting on the stat sheet early with a third minute save. 

  • Reedtz added another save in the 12th minute. 

  • Alyssa Kellar took the first shot on goal for the Mavericks in the 20th minute. Denver's Molly Wissman saved Kellar's shot for her first stop of the game. 

  • Wissman would be tested again in the 33rd minute, making saves on back-to-back chances from Sophia Green and Linsdey Birch. 

  • Mia would close the first half with two key saves in the 44th minute. 

  • Right out of the break, Marissa Gohr had a good run at the goal, but her shot was blocked by a Pioneer defender. 

  • Reedtz would make her fifth and final save in the 56th minute. 

  • Omaha tried to build momentum late. Sophia Green fired a shot that rang off the left goal post in the 64th minute. 

  • Grace Ostergaard and Birch had shots blocked in the 75th and 76th minutes, respectively. 

  • The teams fired a few more shots around the net, but niether side was able to test the opposing keeper as the game ended in a 0-0 draw. 

Inside the Box 

  • Denver outshot Omaha 18-11, 5-3 in shots on goal. 

  • Mia Reedtz made her first start of the season in net for the Mavericks. The senior from Denmark earned the ninth shutout of her career, making five saves in the draw with Denver. 

  • Omaha recorded its fifth team-clean sheet of the season. 

  • Sophia Green led the Mavericks with four total shot attempts. Lindsey Birch came off the bench and ranked second on the team with three total shots. 

  • The Pioneers were called for seven fouls compared to the Mavericks' six. Neither team was shown a yellow or red card. 

Up Next 

  • The Mavericks wrap up their three-game homestand with a match against South Dakota on Thursday, Oct. 5. Thursday marks senior day as three Mavericks will be honored before the 7 p.m. kickoff from Caniglia Field.
