Mavericks Take On Gophers Thursday Night

LEADING OFF
The Mavericks continue a four-match road trip to Minnesota on Thursday. Kickoff between the Mavericks and Gophers is set for 6 p.m. Omaha is looking to bounce back after a pair of losses to Northern Colorado and No. 20 Colorado last week, while Minnesota won its last two matches.

QUICK KICKS
• Omaha played two matches in Colorado last week vs. Northern Colorado and No. 20 Colorado.
Lindsey Birch and Maggie Gunderson made their first career starts, while Emma Konsmo had her career debut between the pipes.
• The Mavericks recorded back-to-back draws two weeks ago. In their first road match, Omaha held UNI scoreless and the match ended in a 0-0 tie. Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen tallied four saves for her second clean sheet.
• Omaha returned home to host Missouri. The Tigers struck first, but Cece Behrens netted the equalizer in the 88th minute to force a 1-1 draw with the SEC opponent.
• Omaha earned a 1-0 win at Lindenwood with a goal from Emilie Erland in the 76th minute. She was assisted by Morgan Fenton who recorded her first point as a Maverick
• The Mavericks opened 2022 action at home with Oklahoma State. Grace Ostergaard found the back of the net in the 10th minute off a blocked shot from Reagan Bourgeois. OSU went on to win 2-1.
Regan Zimmers is tied ninth in the Summit League averaging 1.83 shots per game. She leads the Mavericks with 11 total shots on the year.
• In goal, Reedtz ranks among the best goalkeepers in the league. She is third with a .96 GAA and tied third with two shutouts. Reedtz is fifth with a .783 save percentage and sixth with 3.0 saves per game.
• The Mavericks were tabbed third in the Summit League Preseason Poll for the second straight season. 
• Omaha posted a 9-8-2 record last seasons. The nine wins were the most wins in a single-season since the Division I transition.
• Beginning this season, if the score at the end of regulation is 0-0, the teams will earn a draw in their record. Overtime will no longer be played in the regular season.

SCOUTING THE MINNESOTA GOPHERS
The Gophers are 2-3-1 heading into the week and earned wins in their last two games. Minnesota shutout Drake, 4-0, and downed North Dakota, 3-1. The Gophers have losses to Mississippi State, Cal Poly, and No. 7 TCU to start 2022 action. They tied Baylor in the season opener, 1-1. Minnesota was tabbed ninth in the Big Ten 2022 Preseason Poll after posting an 8-6-3 overall record last season. 

GOPHERS TO WATCH
• Izzy Brown and Sophia Romine are tied as the team's leader in points this season. Brown has netted three goals on nine shots for the Gophers.
• Romine has two goals on nine shots. She leads Minnesota with two assists for her final two points.
• Megan Plaschko has logged all 540 minutes in goal for Minnesota. She's allowed six goals for an average of one per game. Plaschko has 12 saves and one shutout.

SERIES HISTORY
Minnesota leads the all-time series 1-0-1. The teams played to a draw last season.  Regan Zimmers tallied three shots, while Reedtz made six saves.
