OMAHA, Neb. - Despite out shooting the Bears Thursday night, the Mavericks fell, 1-0, at Northern Colorado. Lauren Woodhull netted the game winner just under three minutes into the night's action for UNC.
Omaha falls to 1-2-2 on the season.
How It Happened
- The first shot of Thursday's game was the only goal scored for either team. Northern Colorado applied defensive pressure causing the Mavericks to falter near the box. Melina Faris fed Woodhull the ball who found the back of the net for the game winner at the 2:37 mark.
- Grace Ostergaard and Marissa Gohr had off target attempts over the next three minutes, while Kalen Niedling almost made it 2-0 in the 10th minute for the Bears.
- In the 34th minute, Jordyn West had the chance to tie it, but UNC made a team save to stop the shot.
- Abby Bush had the final shot on goal of the half, but Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen made the save in the 41st minute. UNC led 1-0 at the break.
- Offensively the Mavericks stepped up in the second. Regan Zimmers, Emilie Erland, and Ava Blum tallied shots on goal by the 77th minute, but Kaya Lindberg remained steady in goal making all three stops.
- Britney Donais forced another Reedtz save in the 79th minute. It was the final shot on goal attempt and the Bears took a 1-0 win on the night.
Inside the Box
- The Mavericks outshot the Bears, 14-12. UNC held a 5-4 advantage with shots on goal.
- Blum, Erland, West, and Zimmers each tallied one of the four shots on goal.
- Ostergaard, Zimmers, and Gohr each had two shots in the match.
- Reedtz falls to 1-2-2 on the year. She made four saves between the pipes.
