Omaha Drops Opener vs. Oklahoma State, 2-1

OMAHA, Neb. - Grace Ostergaard found the back of the net first for the Mavericks in their home opener. Oklahoma State responded with two goals in the second half earning the 2-1 win Thursday night.

How It Happened
  • Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen recorded the first save of the game on a shot in the fourth minute from Niah Johnson.
  • The next shot on goal found the back of the net. The Mavericks went up 1-0 in the 10th minute.
  • Reagan Bourgeois took a shot from the top right of the box that was blocked. Ostergaard gave chance to the deflection and score low left.
  • The Cowgirls put two more attempts on goal resulting in saves, and Omaha took the lead into halftime.
  • Out of the break, it did not take long for OSU to even the match. Olyvia Dowell scored on an assist from Alex Morris just over two minutes into the half tying the match, 1-1.
  • OSU continued to control the ball over the next ten minutes until Grace Yochum struck for the lead. Johnson tapped a free kick to Yochum who found the net for the 2-1 lead.
  • Reedtz made one more stop between the pipes for the Mavericks, and OSU would leave with a 2-1 win.
