Stanley Inks with Women's Basketball

OMAHA, Neb. - Head women's basketball coach Carrie Banks announced the signing of Aaliyah Stanley to the 2022-23 roster, Tuesday morning. Stanley is a guard transfer out of Florida Gulf Coast where she played two seasons.

"Aaliyah is our first signee of the off-season, and I am truly excited to welcome a player of her caliber to our program," said Banks. "She is a dynamic guard that shoots the ball well and make plays for her teammates. I love her passion for the game and can't wait to see all she accomplishes as a Maverick."

As a sophomore at FGCU, Stanley was tabbed to the ASUN All-Tournament Team. She finished third on the team scoring 9.6 points per game through 27 games played. Stanley led the team and ranked seventh in the ASUN shooting 38.1 percent from three-point range. The Boynton Beach native totaled 30 assists, 23 steals, and 58 rebounds on the year.

Stanley produced 15 games with 10 or more points as a sophomore, which included a career-high 25 points in the ASUN semifinal win over Lipscomb. She dished out a career-high six assists at Stetson that same season.

In the 2021-22 season, Stanley appeared in 14 games for FGCU. She Scored a season-high 10 points vs. Ave Maria on 4-of-9 from the field to go with two assists over the 16 minutes logged.

"I chose Omaha because the culture is like no other! The girls possess that grit and hunger that I'm eager to adopt," said Stanley. "I'm excited to form new bonds with my future teammates and to accomplish the unimaginable. To add, the coaching staff is great! Lastly, I'm attending Omaha to study in multidisciplinary studies in hopes of being a chiropractor in the future."

Prior to FGCU, Stanley played her freshman season at Eastern Michigan. She averaged 12.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals, 1.1 assists over 18 games. She shot nearly 34 percent from the field and tallied 11 games with double-figure scoring efforts. She notched a season-best 24 points vs. Southeast Missouri and UIC and added another 20-point performance vs. Wichita State.

Stanley played high school ball at Oxbridge Academy under Tracy Wolfe. She was ranked 142nd in her class by ProspectsNation.com and was a four-start prospect. Stanley compiled over 1,000 career points and helped lead her team two a pair of state championships. One of those championships came in 2018 when she scored a career-high 32 points in the title game.

Stanley was named a Florida Association of Basketball Coaches All-State selection and a 2018 FABC Class 5A Co-Player of the Year.
