ST. PAUL, Minn. – Omaha will be the No. 4 seed in the Summit League tournament in Tulsa, Okla.
The Mavericks (24-28) are now locked into that spot following their 5-2 loss to St. Thomas (15-29) Friday at Koch Field. They can't move in the standings, regardless of the outcomes of Saturday's league games.
Omaha, like in Friday's series opener, grabbed an early lead in the contest.
Noah Greise led off the second inning with a solo home run, then
Harrison Denk added an RBI single a few batters later.
But those were the only runs the Mavericks could push across in their second loss in as many days. The Tommies scored in the fifth and sixth innings to tie it up, then used a three-run eighth inning to win it.
Brigs Richartz gave St. Thomas a 3-2 lead with an RBI single off
Wyatt Sellers (3-2). Charlie Bartholomew followed with a two-run homer that capped the scoring as the Tommies won their final home game.
The two teams meet in the regular-season finale on Saturday in Miesville, Minn., at 5 p.m.
