Omaha Completes Sweep of South Dakota

VERMILLION, S.D. - Omaha softball completes its second conference series sweep with a 9-1 run-rule win over South Dakota in game three. The Mavericks put up three runs in the top of the sixth inning to force the early ending to the series finale.

The Mavericks improves to 23-12 overall and 11-4 in league play. They sit second overall in the standings.

How It Happened
  • Jamie White continued a dominant weekend at the plate helping Omaha net its first run of the game in the opening frame. She used a double to score Izzy Eltze who reached on an error in the first at-bat of the game.
  • The Mavericks doubled the lead to 2-0 in the second. The Mavericks had the bases loaded, and they Coyotes walked in a run after White earned the base in a eight-pitch at-bat.
  • Omaha exploded for four runs on four hits in the fourth, all of which came with two outs. Tucker recorded a double to spark the rally. She was quickly hit in on a White single. Lexi Burkhardt and Rachel Weber followed suit with singles to the outfield. Weber's plated two runs. Weber made her way around on a pair of wild pitched, and the Mavericks led 6-0 to end the top half of the inning.
  • South Dakota put its first run on the board in the fifth. Nicholson helped avoid the shutout with a solo homer in the second at-bat.
  • Weber hit her second two-RBI single of the game in the sixth inning. She plated Tucker and White for an 8-1 lead. She then scored the ninth run helping Omaha to the 9-1 run-rule win.
